Canyons,Puerto Galera

The famous Canyons in Puerto Galera. Descent starts on the ridge that goes from Escarcio Point down to the Canyons, past the Hole in the Wall and slowly swept by the current down deeper until we reached the hill just before the first canyon.
There we looked up to see the big Kingfish that hangs out between the surface and the bottom. Next we swam through the little cave with two entrances to find a big Oriental Sweetlip hiding in the cave. Over the ridge into the first canyon that was covered with soft coral out feeding in the current and with a big school of Rabbitfish sitting head on into the current.
Then the second canyon where the resident Harlequin Sweetlips was join by Oriental Sweetlips, Snapper and so much more.
The third canyon was full of Humpback Snappers among One Spot Snapper and then we drifted towards the old anchor to prepare for our ascent to the safety stop. Just another lovely dive in the Canyons, a dive I could do every day if I had the time.

Verde Island

Verde Island is less than an hour away from Sebang beach in Puerta Galera; and just off the island you have Verde Island Drop Off. After entering the water you can instantly see the top of the wall which is as shallow as 8 – 10 meters, and slopes down to beyond 30 meters. Apart from the plentiful supply of corals, the wall is scattered with thousands and thousands of brightly colored Anthia Fish. It is also possible to see Eagle Rays and Sharks here. It is an ideal site for photography when conditions are good. However, there can sometimes be an unpredictable current.

Coral Sand

The Coral Sands was opened in June 2006 and is brand new hotel with a swimming pool.
The Coral Sands is located on Tabinay Beach and is nestled on one of the foothills surrounding Tabinay, about 6.2 kilometers away from Sabang nightlife area and 2.2 km from Puerto Galera.
The Coral Sands offers great value for money, and provides you all aneminities for an unforgettable holiday

Big La Laguna Beach Snorkelling and Diving

As you look out at the water from the beach at Big La Laguna you will see the water transform it's colour. Where the water laps at the sand it is crystal clear and you can easily see the white sand through the water. As your eyes follow the water out further, you notice subtle changes in the colour of the water, the changes in colour are due to what lies below the surface. Further at depth you can see turquoise and aqua coloured water, which indicates a bottom of sand at depth, very alluring and inviting.Where the turquoise and aqua water meets a black area, that is a reef and should be checked out if you want to do some snorkelling or some shore diving. Always remember that the coral reef's best colours are close to the surface before the depth and water filters out the light. So you will not miss out if you are not a diver, if you are a diver make sure you have a look at the scuba diving on offer in Puerto Galera.

Mindoro, the island on which Puerto Galera is located at the North East Coast, was named from a contraction of "mina del oro" or "mines of gold" after the Spanish founded the local community with the consecration of the Church in 1572.
